The objective of the MSC technologist Award is to honour a MSC member who has made significant contributions to advancement of microscopy research or training through their role as a technologist in a Canadian university, industry, or government.

ELIGIBILITY: Any individual who has made outstanding contributions to the development and/or advancement of microscopy in Canada as a technologist.

EVALUATION CRITERIA: Outstanding contributions to technical development of microscopy.

FREQUENCY: Every two years, awarded in alternate years from the Early Career Award.

RECIPIENT WILL RECEIVE: $2500 from the MSC/SMC + certificate, up to $1,000 in travel reimbursement and registration for the annual meeting to receive award

NOMINATION PROCESS: ​​​ Candidates can be nominated by any member of the MSC or by themselves.

• If you are an MSC member and wish to nominate a technologist: Submit a short supporting statement (~250 words) explaining why you feel the candidate should receive the award. Your nomination will then be reviewed to confirm it meets the eligibility criteria. If so, your candidate will be contacted to determine if they accept the nomination. If they accept, they will be forwarded to follow the same procedures as for self-nominations listed below.
• If you are a technologist (and a member of the MSC) and wish to nominate yourself, you must supply the following documentation:
  1. Nomination form
  2. Nominator statement (~250 words)
  3. Candidate statement (1-2 pages)
  4. 2 letters of support
  5. The contact info of nominator and nominee
  6. A portrait photo of the nominee
  7. CV of the nominee
