Nominations Open until April 30 2024.

Eligibility:  To be awarded to a student or postdoctoral fellow who is an MSC-SMC member in good standing and currently enrolled or affiliated with a Canadian Institution.

Evaluation Criteria: The candidate will self-nominate for the award. The candidate will provide a 250-word description of why they are a good candidate for the award, their CV, and the name of a reference who can provide a one-page letter in support of their candidacy.

Frequency: Case-by-case basis, as frequently as once per year at the MSC/SMC Annual Meeting.

Recipient will receive: $250 from the MSC/SMC + certificate + registration for the annual meeting to receive award. The recipient is encouraged to apply for a CFDM or Gerard T. Simon award for travel bursaries.

Nomination Process: 

1. Nominations will be solicited by email sent to all current MSC/SMC members. Candidates will self nominate. Nominations will be submitted through the MSC/SMC website. The nominations process will be open for 4 weeks.
    
2. Nominated candidates will be reviewed to confirm they meet the eligibility criteria, and contacted to determine if they accept the nomination. The candidate will provide through the MSC/SMC website:
   • The nominee will submit a 250-word statement of why they are good candidates for the award.
   • A copy of the nominee's curriculum vitae.
   • 1 reference letter of support from an established MSC member.
