Frances W. Doane Award - OPEN until April 30, 2024

The objective of the Frances W Doane award is to recognize the valuable service and contributions that an individual made to the Microscopy Society of Canada.

Frances W. Doane was one of the seven founding members of the Microscopy Society of Canada in 1972. She was the treasurer from 1972 to 1981 and the Bulletin editor from 1973 to 1992. For her great contribution to the MSC, she was made an honorary member in 1989 and the Honorary Membership Award was renamed to her tribute in 2002.

Nominations are now open until April 30 2024.

ELIGIBILITY: Any person who has rendered an exceptional contribution to the Society, including service, shall be eligible for election as an Honorary Member with the Frances W Doane award.

FREQUENCY: Case-by-case basis, as frequently as once per year at the MSC Annual Meeting

RECIPIENT WILL RECEIVE: Honorary membership, certificate, up to $1,000 in travel reimbursement and registration for the annual meeting to receive award

NOMINATION PROCESS: Candidates will be nominated by the MSC Councilors-at-Large or any member based on their record of service and contributions to the Society. The nominator will provide:

  1. Nomination form
  2. Nominator statement (~250 words)
  3. The contact info of nominator and nominee
  4. A portrait photo of the nominee
  5. CV of the nominee
